Lord Taylor features in new book [19th October 2004] |
[19th October 2004]
The book "False teeth and a Smoking Mermaid" has a collection of anecdotes and thoughts by famous people on the subject of grandchildren and grandparents. Unfortunately Lord Taylor did not know his grandparents but describes this special relationship as an important and special one. He goes on to say that the main attributes of a good grandparent are: "a loving nature, patience, the ability to tell wonderful stories, and the possession of a packet of sugar-free sweets!"
The book was launched at the "Grandparent of the year" reception attended by Lord Taylor along with Sheila from the WLF. Children who had nominated their grandparents to receive a special award were also in attendance. The award was won by a grandmother who had always offered essential love, help and encouragement to her grandaughter, Melissa, 16, who has had to overcome some extremely difficult obstacles in her young life.
